Michelle’s background

Michelle Wiseman has been the Councillor for Pilkington Park Ward since May 2003 having lived there for 28 years. She was re-elected the following year in 2004 and again in 2008. Michelle was the Conservative Parliamentary candidate in the 2010 General Election achieving a swing of 8% twice the North West average. Her ‘day job’ is Chief Executive of Manchester Jewish Community Care which runs the Crumpsall based Nicky Alliance Day Centre.
Michelle is Chairman of the Working Lives Foundation a Charitable Trust set up to establish a sound archive of how people work and live today especially focussing on work-life balances.
Michelle is a Board Member of Six Town Housing and a governor at both Phillips High School and Higher Lane Primary School which are based in her ward. On the Council she sits on the Overview and Management committee.
Michelle’s past roles on the Council have included being Chairman of the Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership, Executive member for Safer, Stronger Communities Scrutiny Commission, shadow spokesperson for Children and Young People, and sitting on the Economy, Environment and Transport Scrutiny Committee, Standards, Audit and JCC Health and Safety.
In her spare time Michelle enjoys quizzes, going to the theatre (and is a member of the Whitefield based Garrick Theatre) and playing bridge.
