Olympic Wins!

So the 2008 Beijing Olympics are over and we must congratulate Team GB on a magnificent performance and now look forward to the Olympics in 2012 in

London.  The official handover was made yesterday in London and we want the 2012 Games to be a great sporting event for London and

Britain
.  We also need the Government to honour its promise made earlier this year to put a stop on the raids of further raids on the National Lottery to help pay for the Olympics.

GCSE Results Day!

Well done to everyone who was successful in their GCSEs the results of which came out today.  Bury pupils have done exceptionally well again and congratulations must go to everyone involved to achieve such wonderful results.  I must also congratulate my daughter on her results and all her friends as well.

Catching up!

I have spent the last few days catching up with news and events which have happened while I was away.  Spent time talking to residents yesterday over local issues and even delivered some leaflets in between the rain showers!  In the last few weeks our Bury South MP has had two high profile articles in the national media – yesterday’s in The Times was about taxing the rich - the very rich!

Back Home!

Arrived back home yesterday after a 12 day holiday visting Rome and some of the Greek islands.  It was supposed to be a rest but with modern communication emails, telephones and oh yes even the same day’s newspapers available it was difficult to get away from events at home but then I suppose who does?  Back to work today and back on the political trail tonight – off to deliver some leaflets there may be a General Election sooner than I thought – maybe another Conference season of will there or won’t there be an election soon? It was interesting talking to many of the Americans I met whilst away about their elections and their views on the candidates.
